How Can I Find My Credit Score?
Author: Alex Nebwalz
There are many methods in whichs I can find my credit scores. I will show you several ways to accomplish this, as you will need this and your report to clean bad credit.
If you have recently or are currently seeking credit as in a mortgage or car loan you can ask them for your score after you have given them permission to pull your credit. I always request this; after all it’s a free way to find my credit score!
If your score is known, you can obtain your report through the credit bureaus. They must send, upon request a copy of your report each year for free except they will not send a score with it. There are three ways to do this.
1. Go to the Annual Credit Report website and request it there.
2. Call (877) 322-8228 and request it here.
3. Fill out and send a request form to Annul Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348. You can get the PDF orm at the FTC website..
If you currently possess your score this will work because the free yearly reports do not include your score. If not there are other ways in which to find your credit score and report.
The credit bureaus and other sites on the web will offer credit reports and scores, a good way to find your credit score. On a trial basis they will give you access to these for free. If you would rather not to pay you will need to cancel before the end or the trial period. Also they offer additional services like notices when an inquiry into your credit or a negative entry is added to your credit report. These are valuable in monitoring your report. I use one of these services and receive email alerts when a negative entry is made allowing me to investigate immediately.
This should have answered your question, “How do I find my credit score?”
Now you know your score, how can you improve it?
1. Make your payments on time, as this affects your score the most.
2. The second most important are your account balances. Improving debt-to-credit-limit ratios will improve your score.
3. If your credit history is less than 3 years it will improve with time, manage your credit wisely.
4. A balance of credit cards and installment accounts will help.
5. Checking your own score will not damage your score, but a lot of credit inquiries made in a short time can.
Find your credit score, make your payments on time, reducing balances and balancing types of credit to lower your credit score.
